What it is?

Also known as a multi-layer filter, this is a closed vessel—made of metal or plastic—containing filter media through which the untreated water (raw water) that we wish to clarify is passed under pressure.

The appropriate filtration system is designed based on the intended use of the water, as well as the characteristics and quantity of the particles to be removed.

A multi-layer filter combines several types of filter media to remove suspended solids—such as sand, organic matter, heavy metals, and PFAS—as well as to address issues related to odor and taste.

The substances are retained not only on the surface but throughout the entire volume of the filtering medium, guiding the fluid through an intricate maze within the bottle. The water moves by taking twists and turns due to obstacles in the medium. Particles are removed from the water by a combination of simultaneous actions throughout the full depth of the bed – mechanical interception, inertial impaction, diffusion, gravitational settling, and surface adhesion mechanisms.

The method of removing contaminants imitates how nature works.

Features

Easy to install and maintain: Installation is simple, and maintenance is scheduled if the valve is automatic, or carried out manually.

Long-lasting: With proper maintenance, the bed regains its filtration capacity, and its lifespan is longer than other systems (depending on water quality and maintenance).

Versatility: The filter media is designed to meet the specific removal needs. Sand, anthracite, silica, or others. Whatever is needed to eliminate the contaminant load. They can adapt to small or industrial scales.

Handles water with high levels of contamination

Cost-effective: Since its lifespan is usually long and it doesn’t require specialist maintenance or expensive spare parts.

Components

FRP bottle (fiberglass-reinforced plastic): The size of the bottle is determined  by the flow of water needed. The higher the volume, the larger the bottle diameter.

Valves: Element that regulates the direction of water

  • Manual
  • Automatic

Strainers: Also known as retainers, nozzles, or collectors. They are elements that allow water to pass through and hold the bottle’s filling (sand, resin, gravel, etc.). They determine the water distribution.

  • Top: Water distributors installed at the top of the bottle
  • Bottom: Water distributors installed at the bottom of the bottle

COLOR

multimedia filter system

The bottle color determines the % of UV reflectance

White: between 70-80%

Blue: between 40-50%

Green: between 20-30%

Red or Black: between 5-10%

The higher the reflectance, the lower the operating temperature, as the filter absorbs fewer UV rays. Chemical degradation. Minor chemical degradation. For this, many bottles have a UV protective coating with advanced technology that ensures high performance and long life.
